THE GLOBAL ORGANISAT- IONS PROGRAM
The Global Organisations Program (under construction): This post-disciplinary program will target students and scholar interested in the research of the short and long-term ethical and political dimensions, implications, and effects of the consolidation and proliferation of global organizations in the post-World War II period. The organisations to be analysed include World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Union, Global Business (industrial and financial corporations), The UN, NATO, International Non-Governmental Organizations, and the variety of political (environmental, feminist, indigenous, black, etc) organizations acting globally, etc. This program will be of particular interest for those engaged in producing theoretical, empirically-informed, and/or praxis-oriented rigorous examinations of a range of substantive ethical and political questions.
These may include:
(a) how past and present colonial and racial discourse, practices, and structures of subjugation operate in the global field;
(b) whether and how ethical and political considerations and themes are involved in the process of formation, the structure, and workings of these collective bodies; (c) the ethical and political effects of their decisions, practices, and interactions at the local, national, regional, and global level; and
(d) how these impact economically dispossessed racially subjugated collectives in the Global South and the Global North.
The program provides postgraduate (M.Phil. and PhD and Specialization) degrees.
